Tyler's Room Update: Potterybarn Kids Snafu

We decided to get to work on Tyler's room makeover this weekend. I wanted to dismantle the convertible crib and attach the back (headboard portion) to the full size bed frame that came with the mattress set.  Thinking this would take about 20 minutes we figured, "no problem" and got to work. 
Wrong!
The standard frame did not match up to the holes in the headboard.  They were off by about 2 inches.  We called and spoke to the store where we purchased the mattress set and frame and worked with them to figure out the issue: Potterybarn headboard.  Apparently this is a very common issue.

Ugh...Potterybarn Kids!

It seems they purposely make their beds a little wider than the standard so that you have to purchase either their frame or a headboard adapter kit. Had I known this would be an issue I would have just purchased the conversion kit when I got the crib. But no, PBK states that it will work "with most standard bed frames".  I am here to tell you it doesn't.

Instead I placed my order Sunday afternoon and am patiently waiting for it to come in.  In the mean time Tyler's room looks like this:

Yeah, kind of a safety hazard for a two year old so in the mean time he is sleeping with us and we all know what that means:

Please, Potterybarn Kids, send that darn conversion kit fast!!

I'm not trying to knock Potterybarn Kids(well maybe a little out of frustration).  I still love their products.  They are great quality and I love their style.  Just make sure you buy the conversion kit when you purchase either a headboard or convertible crib from them and that goes for Potterybarn, too.

Tyler's Room: Big Updates for a Big Boy

I've been wanting to update Tyler's room since May (when he decided he was over the crib and crawling out was so much more fun).  I bought him a full size mattress and box spring to use with his crib (it converts to a full size headboard).  It's been sitting on the floor in case he falls out he wont hurt himself.  Also so he can get back in on his own because this Mama likes her sleep.  A lot.  :-)

Updating the Nursery

Tyler can now reach the curtains and the cord for the baby monitor so we had to come up with a new place for the monitor and pull his crib closer to the middle of that wall.  We decided to get a couple of shelves to put on the wall so we could move the baby monitor further away from him and take the table out of the room that we borrowed from the living room.  It wasn't a very sturdy table and Tyler is now pulling himself up on furniture and it was just a matter of time before he broke the table or the table broke him!

I bought these shelves at Home Depot.  I chose the shallow shelves because the deeper ones were very heavy and I read a few reviews saying they basically cant hold anything because they are already too heavy to hold their own weight and kind of sag in the front.  Not cool! 

Everything seems to fit just fine on these shelves for now and maybe later we can turn them into Trophy shelves once he's older.

Nursery Update: My Glider is here!!!

I am so excited that my glider is finally here.  I have been waiting for over 2 months since they are made to order.  It's so comfortable and I love that it's a slip cover so I can wash it if it gets dirty or change it out for a different color later on.

Nursery is almost complete.  We are just waiting on the lamp and the curtain rings.

On another note, below is a picture of the adorable baby booties that my mom knitted for Tyler.  SO CUTE!!!

Nursery Update

Below are pictures of the toy chest/book shelf we bought from Land of Nod with our 15% registry completion discount. I loved the navy color and think it ties the green closet in with the rest of the room. Right now it holds extra diapers and wipes but soon enough will be holding lots of toys!

Nursery Art Work

Since I have been getting the nursery together I have been looking online, mostly at Etsy, for some Nautical artwork.  Below are some of the items I  have come accross that I like and feel like would work in that room and coordinate nicely with the theme.  The first one is my absolute favorite.

Nursery Progress

We are slowly buying our furniture to complete the nursery. We had new carpet installed about a month ago, purchased and assembled the crib about 2 weeks ago, and painted the closet green. I'm so excited to see my plan come together!

Since the walls are painted a soft grey color (sterling by Behr) I wanted a pop of color in the closet. We chose garland green by Benjamin Moore.

Baby Pena's Nursery

It has taken me a while to get all my thoughts together on a nursery project. My husband and I love boating and being on the water so we decided on a nautical theme. Here is a mood board I put together for the items I want in the nursery. The room we are using has bright grey walls (Sterling) and white trim (Billowy Down), both are Behr paint from Home Depot.
